week 38: deep time

Posted on September 25, 2012 by aks

If you free yourself from the conventional reaction to a quantity like a million years, you free yourself a bit from the boundaries of human time. And then in a way you do not live at all, but in another way you live forever.

– from The Annals of the Former World by John McPhee

Returning to drawing and painting this week. As always, I am searching to capture something that feels elusive…though maybe there is a lesson in this quote about how we perceive time.  I feel like my discovery is taking forever, but from another point of view, maybe it is happening quicker than I could ever know.
