Time and Timelessness (poem)

Posted on March 8, 2015 by aks

I’ve been having some crazy dreams lately. This is a poem that describes one of them where a protector came to watch over me to help fend off nightmares.

As uncomfortable as it has been to have these dreams, I’m realizing it is a necessary experience to open the next chapter of work in the studio. A big thanks to friends who have helped me through this week!

Protector

Counting Auden’s hours
Counting all the days
Numbers piling up
All my life a haze
In between the counting
In between the space
I feel time disappearing
What is this beautiful place?

Counting every wave
Rolling onto Neruda’s shore
One crashing after the other,
Two by two and more
Feeling every grain of sand
Between every solitary toe
Neptune watching over
My battered body
I feel like I am home
